A century after its official birth as a town in 1863, the focus of Wickenburg had shifted from mining to tourism and the town had become the “dude ranch capital of the world”. Those were the hey days of the dude ranches, when every winter guests from all across the United States as well as from foreign countries would flock to Wickenburg with its warm and dry climate, and winter temperatures ranging in the mid 70s.

Here we, I say we are saddling up for some “Dudes” to go on a trailride. I am a member of the ranch cowboys at this time. Lets see I have met the owner and she has asked me to stay a while that they have a nice level camping spot in front of her house…. Yes less than a hour on site and I am a REAL COWBOY ON A REAL RANCH!!!!!

I live in Phoenix and arranged 2 weeks in advance to take my nephew horseback riding for a day of fun and relaxation. Last minute the plans fell through.
